Aquatic Contracting was subcontracted by LKE Corporation as part of a team to provide the Portland District Corps of Engineers (USACE) with professional consulting services for improvements to the 6.6 mile long South Jetty located at the Columbia River_s confluence with the Pacific Ocean (Mouth of the Columbia River [MCR]). South Jetty repairs are proposed to the address jetty deterioration, improve reliability, and maintain deep-draft navigation conditions at the Mouth of the Columbia River. Proposed construction activities are to include half a million tons of jetty stone placement, 70,000 tons of foredune stabilization, creation of temporary barge off-loading facilities, as well as land based construction, mobilization and staging area development. The project included completing multiple wetland delineations (approx. 115 acres), impact analysis, wetland/waters functional assessments (ORWAP), and conceptual mitigation alternatives and restoration plans to address proposed construction impacts and assist the Corps with completing a Supplemental Environmental Assessment.
