OHSU West - Design/Build Fish Passage Improvement Bridge Project - Aquatic Contracting

Washington County, OR

Aquatic Contracting was selected by Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) for this Design-Build construction project to replace three large deteriorating culverts on an existing access road over Bronson Creek with a 50-foot full-span bridge on the OHSU West Campus in Hillsboro. In addition to constructing the project, AC selected and then led the team through initial site studies, project design, and an extensive permitting process to obtain authorizations from the Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Clean Water Services (CWS), Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and the City of Hillsboro. AC_s team included both civil and structural engineering subcontractors, geotechnical subcontractors, inspectors, as well as our in-house construction project managers, biologists, equipment operators, and laborers. After all permits were obtained, AC replaced the three perched culverts with a full-span two lane modular steel bridge, improving OHSU_s access while restoring fish passage and enhancing stream and wetland conditions on this reach of Bronson Creek.
