Working under an extremely short in-water work window due to permitting Agency delays, Aquatic Contracting (AC) successfully completed this stream stabilization and habitat enhancement project on time and within the original project budget. Despite additional logistical and access challenges, difficult subsurface conditions (mudstone), sensitive environmental resources, and strict design criteria requirements for anchoring/ballasting habitat structures, the project goal of restoring over 3000 linear feet of Clear Creek was met. AC completed the following restoration design objectives: acquisition and staging of over 300 pieces of LWD, temporary bridge construction, excavation of two alcove/backwater channels, installation of 25 individual log structures pinned with threaded rod, removal of 2000 yards of floodplain fill, tributary channel excavation, removal of 2 culvert barriers and replacement with wet ford maintenance crossings, access road improvements, temporary and permanent erosion controls and site restoration.
